It's a Boy!

~ Alistair Edward Hansen ~

Born at 2:05am on Friday June 23, 2006
Weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces.

We had the wonderful women at Commercial Drive Midwives attending our pregnancy and birth, however Alistair unexpectedly chose to enter our lives on the outside a week and a half early... and quickly as well! After one hour and twenty minutes of labour, he was delivered in our home by my husband Joshua, with the midwife arriving during the last possible seconds of the delivery. It was an extremely intense and bonding experience for us to go through this with eachother, and we are very proud of ourselves and our beautiful son for handling this event so calmly and effectively. We are all healthy and happy, and are embarking on a whole new life together as you read this. Life and work should become very interesting! I plan to take at least the next 3 months off from work and will probably ease back into the service world slowly... sometimes even with Alistair in tow :)

Please check back here to find out my future work status and availability, you are always welcome to drop me an email (which many of you have done already!). Take care and I'll see you soon.

PS... on a side note, all of you who predicted that we were carrying a boy were right! About 99% of everyone with an opinion on the matter said that we were having a boy; my mum and in-laws, my clients, the little old chinese pharmacist who helped me out, strangers on the street, my Mensa/Doctor client, and even very young children. Who knew? Obviously many more people than I would have imagined...!

Here are some more garburator tips for you, this is one hot topic! Just don't jam too much down there at once, take it in shifts with lots of cold water...

OK down disposer:

* hard skins and peels (avacado, oranges, mango, broccoli stems cut in half lengthwise, etc...)
* anything fish related (skins, bones, etc...) follow up with pieces of quartered lemon for smell
* leftover meat minus the bones, raw or cooked

note: many reputable manufacturers actually state that you can garburate meat bones. I am of the opinion that you are asking for trouble with this one, so I personally don't!

Tankless/Instantaneous hot water - I think this is one of the most exciting products on the market. In fact, I am so passionate about this progressive system, that it seems crazy to even consider the old storage tank system. Not everyone shares this view, so thoroughly investigate it first...!
